Healthcare informatics & e-Health

E-Health is comparatively recent term for healthcare application supported by electronic processes, dating back to at least 1999. A study in 2005 found 51 unique definitions. Some argue that it is interchangeable with health informatics with a broad definition covering electronic/digital processes in health while others use it in the narrower sense of healthcare practice using the Internet. It can also include health applications and links on mobile phones, referred to as health or m-Health. Health informatics (also called health care informatics, medical informatics, nursing informatics, clinical informatics, or biomedical informatics). It is an integrative field that uses health information technology  to improve health care via any combination of higher quality, higher efficiency (spurring lower cost and thus greater availability), and new opportunities.
