Biography
Dr. Harry Wechsler serves as Professor of Computer Science at George Mason University (GMU) in Fairfax, VA, USA. He has been active in biomedical image processing, data mining, machine learning and pattern recognition, image analysis and understanding, biometrics, face recognition, forensics and evidence analysis, smart identity and information management, contents-based image retrieval (CBIR), and cyber security, with research funding coming from ARL, DARPA, DOD / TSWG, FBI, and NSF. The focus for his R&D is coping with uncertainty and uncontrolled settings, in general, and incomplete or degraded data, in particular. He organized the NATO ASI on Face Recognition and his book on Reliable Face Recognition Methods, was published by Springer in 2007. Dr. Wechsler has published over 300 papers and holds together with his former doctoral students 7 patents. He is an IEEE Fellow and an IAPR Fellow.
