Biography

As a CIO of KFMC, Dr. Khalid focuses on innovation and patient centered services while increasing efficiency through technology modernization and business process improvements. He is also accountable for applications and infrastructure supporting all hospital functions. Dr. Khalid believes delivery of quality, appropriate, reliable and affordable technology services is the key attribute of a high performing information technology department. Prioritizing technology investments according to the value of the organization and making and meeting the right commitments for constituents is vital. Dr. Khalid received his PhD degree in Information Technology in 2011 from George Mason University –Fairfax, VA., and his MBA degree with Information System Concentration in 2006 at Santa Clara University – Santa Clara, CA. While studying in a full time basis he had 10 years of experience in information technology and engineering in IBM Corporation, Silicon Valley Lab., CA.

Research Interest

During his 20 years’ experience of Information Technology administration and engineering with IBM Corporation, AT&T Corporation, King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center, Riyadh. Dr. Khalid established and led program for Industry Solutions business segment to provide business partners with end-to-end technical support and providing strategic and technical vision. He created and delivered world-wide management training to address complex customer situations. At King Fahad Medical City, he oversees the Health Informatics and Information Technology as well as sets its direction and coordinates infrastructure and service delivery across the medical city. He also assumed responsibility for application development, support services, and technology governance practices and leads strategic initiatives to transform the information technology department to be flexible, adaptable and responsive to customer needs. His Various projects in pipeline are Electronic Medical Record, Enterprise Resource Planning, Virtual Desktop Infrastructure, Electronic Entertainment Patients Service, Chart Viewer System Enhancement, Dictaphone Enterprise – Speech System Enhancements, are among vital projects in line for an advance healthcare infrastructure and efficient healthcare management.
